INTERTIDAL

On the Chek Jawa mudflats during sunrise.

Mudflats at the Chek Jawa Wetlands are not typically open to the public. However during Pesta Ubin, access was granted to the mudflats via an accompanying NParks officer and NPSS member guides. The group was able to go down to the mudflats to view the creatures such as hermit crabs up close, instead of being confined to the boardwalks.

NIGHT MACRO

Lobster Moth Caterpillar

Unlike the other trips, the Night Macro photography outing started around 7pm and ended in the wee hours of next day's morning. The nocturnal timing of the session was selected to allow for better observation of small creatures which seek the cover of darkness.

It is our hope that through these guided trips trips, participants get to experience the beautiful landscape and wonderful nature of Pulau Ubin. This could lead them to a deeper appreciation for Ubin’s rich heritage and remarkable biodiversity.
