2025 marks the 15th Borneo Bird Festival (BBF) and NPSS was invited to participate in this year's edition held at the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) in Sepilok, Borneo.
The NPSS delegation consisting of Daryl, Senthil, Benjamin, and LS Tan, engaged actively across the festival programme. We also caught up with birding communities both local and international from afar in Thailand and even China (Fujian)!
It was already an exciting start at Sandakan Airport (SDK) as we identified fellow attendees including festival organizers invited to present conservation findings and independent participants from Singapore.
BBF continues to be a valuable platform for the birding community to network, share knowledge, and foster stronger partnerships. NPSS’ participation reinforces our commitment to regional engagement and to promoting bird conservation through meaningful connections and shared experiences.
Of note was a serendipitous appearance of a Rhinoceros Hornbill at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve a day after our return. The Rhinoceros Hornbill is also colloquially known as the 'KitKat Bird' in Borneo (no we are not sponsored by Nestlé).
