2025 marks 25 years of NPSS.  After months of preparations, 11 Oct 2025, Saturday arrived with the promise of a lovely sunny day ahead.

In true NPSS fashion, the day of celebration started off with a guided tour of the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve as the first half of our anniversary celebration!  After a short briefing at the wetland entrance, the group was split into three teams, each led by experienced guides from Nature Adventures SG.

While many of our members are no doubt seasoned hands out in the field, the sheer variety of biodiversity at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve allowed Chew KG to perfectly capture some of the trying moments framing nature with the unmistakable bokeh of a classic mirror lens.

Monitor lizards lounged lazily along the track, posing like seasoned models for eager photographers.  On the path towards Eagle Point along the river, swarms of millets were especially active, leaping out of the water every now and then—both surprising the group and presenting a fun technical challenge for our nature photographers.

Even the resident crocodile made an appearance, much to the excitement of everyone.

A quiet stop at the bird hide offered a serene moment to observe migratory shorebirds on their seasonal journey.

As we continued along the boardwalk, we learned about the diverse life of the wetland—from fishes and birds to the iconic banyan trees. The mangroves lining the path provided a beautiful backdrop for photos and moments of reflection.

A big thank-you to our guides —Ivan, Hang Chong, and Alyce—whose knowledge and passion for nature made this day of learning, discovery, and celebration truly memorable.

The second half of the day's event brought us to Bollywood Farm's Poison Ivy Bistro for a truly cosy experience.  Past presidents Fong Chee Wai & Cai Yixiong graced the event with their presence and their recounted interesting stories in the history of NPSS.
